The Valeyard: Pawns by AHiLdesigns The Valeyard: Pawns by AHiLdesigns
Meant to be printed in the soon coming "Kasterborous Magazine", this conceptual piece was
originally illustrated and colored in A4, at 350ppi, for accompaniment with a news article.

Whether or not this will appear in a new format remains a mystery. But at least you can enjoy
it here in all it's splendor!

Just plain awesome, and incredibly chilling. It's always great to see the Doctor's dark side turn against him, and in my opinion, the Valeyard is the definitive example of it.

When I saw this just now, I misread the title as "The Valeyard pwns". Which he probably thinks he does.

Awesome work!
Was this inspired by the Hush variant cover by Jim Lee??? :)

Just looked that one up - it's a killer cover! Wish I could say it had. It came about during talks with the magazine Editor, a contributor, and myself, based on the 4th Doctor serial "The Deadly Assassin". I also saw someone else do something similar with the First Doctor in their art - not unlike the Jim Lee variant - before I did this one. (see that one here: Checkmate )

Brilliant!! Reminds me of the 'Five Doctors' Episode with the figures of the Doctors, begin used as a game.
Love the mix of new series and classic series monsters :)

Thank you! The idea rather came from an awesome discussion with the Kasterborous editor and my good from from the Doctor Who Reprint Society... so there's certainly some fun nods to the old and new. I had a great amount of fun creating it. :D

The Valeyard is never defeated- he is merely delayed

No, Six pretty much ended the Valeyard menace forever.

Which means we now already know the final fate of the Doctor. He is destined to become the Valeyard and get defeated by himself.

THat means all the heroics from Six on pretty much mean squat. The Valeyard is the undisputed fate of the Doctor. No matter all the heroics he performed. It doesnt mean squat. It doesn't really matter who 12 is going to be, since this is the incarnation that he is destined to become the Valeyard in. Then he'll go back and be defeated by himself. And the Story of the Doctor will end.

Thank you so much!

The gentleman who the art was for came up with the concept. He happens to be a good friend, and he and I will be whipping up an E-Comic featuring all the Doctors this year in this style of art. It's called "Dangling Threads". Keep your eyes peeled!

Oh also, I love how you put Molloy Davros in there. Definitely my favorite portrayal. Though gosh did Wisher do a great job. Except that Molloy is in the dramas...

Thanks! I spent a lot of time trying to fit baddies in there---a good rounding of them. Classic Davros was a must! Wanted to add so many more, but my deadline was pretty tight at the time. Had I known it wasn't going into a physical magazine, I'd have spent more than two days on it and really knocked it out of the park. But I'm still really proud of it----and your kind words make it even more of a joy. :highfive:

This is cool. The Valeyard is a character I would like to see come back. He kind of showed up as the Dream Lord, but not quite.
